The Weaving Hearts of Hope

The Weaving Hearts of Hope

In a small, humble corner of Kigali, the women of the House of Healing began a journey that would not only mend baskets but also mend hearts. The church, already known for its worship and prayer, had become a beacon of hope for women in need those burdened by poverty, heartache, and isolation.

Every Saturday in Kigali And Rwamagana , Women from all walks of life gathered to learn the art of basket weaving, taught by skilled members of the community who offered their time and talent freely.

For many of the women, this was more than just a workshop. It was a place of healing. As their hands moved skillfully over the materials, their hearts began to open. Stories of struggles and triumphs were shared, and prayers intertwined with the sound of weaving. Laughter began to echo through the hall, a joyful sound that hadn’t been heard in some of their homes for years.

“Here, I found peace,” said Console, a mother of three who joined the group after losing her job. “The weaving brings me comfort, and the women have become my sisters.”

NDAHEI, ever committed to supporting vulnerable families, saw the potential in this initiative. They began purchasing every basket the women made, paying them fair prices that brought immediate financial relief. “This is not just a basket,” said one of the leaders. “It’s a lifeline for these families. Every purchase puts food on the table, pays school fees, and rebuilds hope.”

The baskets were beautiful—crafted with care and creativity, each one unique in its design. To ensure the women’s work would reach as many people as possible, NDAHEI launched an announcement:

Come and Buy Baskets of Hope!
Our women have created stunning baskets in all designs, perfect for decorating your home or gifting to loved ones. Every basket you purchase supports a family in need and helps change lives. We are offering these beautiful decorations at a special discount—buy one and make a difference today!”

The announcement spread like wildfire. People from across Kigali came to see the baskets. Business owners, families, and even tourists marveled at the craftsmanship. The baskets became a symbol of resilience and beauty, and buyers were proud to take home something that carried such a powerful story.

As sales increased, NDAHEI reinvested the proceeds to grow the program. More women were invited to join, even those who didn’t know how to weave. Experienced weavers volunteered to teach newcomers for free, ensuring that no one was left behind.

“Now I can send my children to school,” said Chantal, another participant. “Before, I had nothing to offer. But through these baskets, God has provided.”

The impact didn’t stop at financial support. The women became advocates for one another, offering emotional and spiritual encouragement. The church hall transformed into a space where burdens were shared and hope was restored.

The House of Healing had woven something far greater than baskets—it had woven a community bound by faith, love, and mutual support. As the women continued to weave, their lives were being rewoven with purpose and dignity.

Every basket sold carried their story, a story that touched the hearts of all who came to buy. And so, through the simple act of weaving, the women of the House of Healing discovered that they weren’t just creating art—they were creating a brighter future, one basket at a time.
