My names is Impano Agape Kevine was born in Muhanga District under extraordinary circumstances. I arrival came far too early, at just five months, and have weighed a mere 800 grams. The doctors weren’t sure she would survive, and her tiny body seemed too fragile for the world. Overwhelmed with fear and doubt, me mother asked the doctors not to show her the baby. For three long months, she didn’t see her child.
But God had a different plan for me . Against all odds, I fought to survive, and after three months, her mother finally held her daughter. It was a moment of grace, a testament to God’s power and love.
By the time I was old enough to begin nursery school, she weighed 10 kilograms. Though she was physically stronger, she faced new challenges. Starting primary school brought a painful reality: her peers often teased me about her appearance. They said she looked “old,” making me feel different and excluded. Their words cut deep, and I struggled with feelings of sadness and isolation.
Amid this struggle, NDAHEI stepped in, becoming a lifeline. The organization provided her with school fees and materials, ensuring I could continue my education. More than that, NDAHEI gave me hope. They reminded me that I was wonderfully made and deeply loved by God.
Now in Primary Five, My life is a story of transformation. She has found joy and purpose, leaving behind the pain of rejection. “I thank God because now I am okay,” I says with a heart full of gratitude. “I know I am a blessing and an important person for my family and the world.”
