Story of Hope and Transformation

My name is Akimana Latifa, and I come from a very humble background. I have only one parent—my mother, who struggled with alcohol addiction since I was a young child. This made life incredibly difficult for me and my younger brother. We often felt unsafe, and my mother’s drinking brought strangers into our home, putting us in danger. I remember one particularly frightening time when an older man came to our house with ill intentions toward me. I was terrified and felt like I had nowhere to turn.

In 2018, I was fortunate to meet Pastor Alexis, who introduced me to NDAHEI. I shared my story with him, and he listened with compassion and understanding. NDAHEI quickly took action to help me. They recognized that my home situation was unsafe, and they arranged for me to leave my mother’s house and move to my grandmother’s village, where I could be in a safer and more stable environment.

NDAHEI’s support transformed my life. They have been covering my school fees since 2018, allowing me to attend GS Rubirizi and focus on my studies. They provide school materials, insurance, and even help with transportation costs so that I can continue my education without worry. Living with my grandmother has given me a sense of peace and security I never had before.

Thanks to NDAHEI, I now have hope for a brighter future. Their support has allowed me to dream beyond my past struggles and work toward a better life. I am deeply grateful to NDAHEI, Pastor Alexis, and everyone who has made this journey possible. God bless NDAHEI for their kindness and generosity. They have given me the chance to build a future I once thought impossible.
